Palace

Palace turns a familiar card game into a browser experience. The work is as much about clarity and timing as rules: readable cards, understandable turns, and feedback that makes a good play feel good.

Actual Palace campaign gameplay showing the card table, rivals’ reserves, and a playable hand.

Readable rules, satisfying turns

Palace combines a campaign with a browser card table. The interface shows the active rank rule, public reserves, cards remaining, and a history of the table. A player can arrange the opening reserve before the hand begins, then select a legal card and play it.

Two kinds of state

The single-player campaign keeps progression on the current device. Private multiplayer uses a backend room store: it validates moves against the authoritative room state, saves the result, and sends each player a view appropriate to their seat. Repeated command identifiers are handled so the same move is not applied twice.

Campaign and private tables

The campaign starts with arranging a reserve, then moves into a hand against computer rivals. For a private multiplayer game, an invitation connects friends to the same table. Readable cards, an active rule, and the table history keep the consequences of a play visible as the game moves between players.
